The Harford Tech Cobras's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. The matchup between Harford Tech and Joppatowne wasn't particularly close, with Harford Tech falling 79-63. While losing is never fun, Harford Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Joppatowne is ranked 110th).
Kishann Smith was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds for Joppatowne. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Phil Clark, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Harford Tech's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Joppatowne, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harford Tech will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Benjamin Franklin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Benjamin Franklin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 455 points over their last seven games. Joppatowne will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Glen Burnie at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Glen Burnie will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
