Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta has gone a perfect 7-0 against West Central Area recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will welcome the Knights at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta has nine straight victories, West Central Area has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta came out on top against New London-Spicer on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 7-1 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Drew Huebner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. Huebner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. Those hits were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Alex Asmus and Jonah Huebner did most of the damage at the plate: Asmus went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Jonah went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That stolen base was Asmus' first of the season. Andrew Marty was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, West Central Area lost 8-1 to Breckenridge on Tuesday.
Tucker McGee was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 6.6 runs thus far. As for West Central Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta was able to grind out a solid win over West Central Area in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
