The Fort Myers Green Wave's seven-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 48-21 win over Dunbar on the road. That looming 48-21 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Fort Myers yet this season.
Despite the loss, Dunbar saw an underclassman step up: Carmen Johnson scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played.
Fort Myers' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. As for Dunbar, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Myers will face off against Seacrest Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunbar won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Fort Myers at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully North Fort Myers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Wednesday.
