Softball Recap: Lewis Mills Wins Going Away Against Rockville

Lewis Mills never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Rockville Rams with a sharp 17-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Liza Putnam made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lewis Mills let Calleigh Lok and Anna Henry run wild. Lok went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Henry got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Lok a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilah Ellison, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Lewis Mills hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Lewis Mills pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Rockville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Lewis Mills will face off against Wethersfield at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Rockville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
