Edison had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Spencer-Van Etten on Monday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 17-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Edison's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Spencer-Van Etten, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Edison and Spencer-Van Etten will both be playing Charles O. Dickerson the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Blue Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Spartans will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
