The Eastwood Eagles had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down Edison 63-47 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Eastwood also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Edison's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jorja Byington, who scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Moore, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Eastwood's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastwood will face off against Archbold at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edison, they will head out on the road to face off against New London at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
