The Cedar Valley Aviators will head out on the road to face off against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cedar Valley entered their tilt with Mountain View with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cedar Valley simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Mountain View 74-43 at home. Given Cedar Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Mountain View is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cedar Valley found their leader in underclassman Hadley Whiting, who scored 16 points along with 8 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Larson, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Orem 61-30 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
Among those leading the charge was Amber Cook, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was MaKayla Boyer, who scored 11 points.
Cedar Valley's victory bumped their season record to 3-0 while Mountain View's loss dropped theirs to 1-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Cedar Valley have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.7 threes per game. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.8 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
