After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Tonawanda, Lewiston-Porter was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lockport Lions as they made off with a 19-12 win. The Lancers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Scarlett Sloma made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Sloma was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lewiston-Porter got a massive performance out of Alyssa Dashineau, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Gianna Venditti was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Lewiston-Porter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lewiston-Porter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Lockport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
