The Cortland Purple Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Watertown. While losing is never fun, Cortland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 579th, while the Cyclones are ranked 265th).
Cortland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaxson Gambitta, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds, and Antonio Terrazas who scored ten points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Owen Johnson, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Cortland dropped their record down to 4-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Watertown, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.
Cortland will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mexico is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Watertown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
