The Hemingway Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Hemingway is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 63-58 win over Johnsonville on Friday. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly five points.
Hemingway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nasir Brooks, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points along with seven boards and four steals. Jamer Wright was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hannah-Pamplico was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 60-55 to Hartsville. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hemingway will need focus on slowing down Tylin Jenkins, one of several Hannah-Pamplico players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 of 15 en route to 16 points and six boards. The matchup was Jenkins' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Auje Bacchus, who posted 18 points.
Even though they lost, Hannah-Pamplico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.
Hannah-Pamplico's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Hemingway, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hemingway has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 28.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Hannah-Pamplico struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hemingway strolled past Hannah-Pamplico when the teams last played back in December of 2019 by a score of 73-54. Will Hemingway repeat their success, or does Hannah-Pamplico have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
