After flying high against the Holden Eagles last Thursday, the Butler Bears came back down to earth. Butler took a 90-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of Versailles on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (75), Butler still had to take the loss.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Versailles to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristan Albrecht, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Williams, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Butler's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Versailles, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Butler won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Skyline at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Versailles will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sherwood at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. The timing isn't great for Sherwood: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Versailles has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
