The Union Academy Cardinals can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Gray Stone Day with a sharp 61-41 win. Given Union Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Gray Stone Day is ranked 449th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Union Academy to victory were Jaiden Thompson and Paisley Boatright. Thompson scored 20 points along with three steals, while Boatright dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Boatright has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Griffin, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Union Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Gray Stone Day, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
