The Otay Ranch Mustangs were the 55-51 winner over the Patrick Henry Patriots when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Otay Ranch fell to Patrick Henry 59-54.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Percy Whittaker, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Manuel Franke was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Patrick Henry found their leader in underclassman Isaac Weatherred, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weatherred has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Klu, who scored 14 points.
Otay Ranch's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-16. As for Patrick Henry, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Otay Ranch will take on Mater Dei Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Dei Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Otay Ranch in California (Mater Dei Catholic is ranked 179th, while Otay Ranch is ranked 487th). As for Patrick Henry, they will play host again and welcome High Tech SD, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
