4A District 3 recap November 13, 2013
Centennial extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 3 this week by beating Deming, 28-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Hawks.
Chaparral made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,677 from 13,120. The improvement was the result of a 14-7 victory over Santa Teresa last week.
The Desert Warriors' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jose Cervantes threw for 200 and 1 touchdown and Brandon Rodriguez had 117 yards receiving. On the ground Tristen Villegas chipped in 96 yards. Ben Orozco helped Santa Teresa's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.
Santa Teresa's dynamic duo of Cervantes and Rodriguez proved tough for the Lobos to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Orozco helped Santa Teresa's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Jerome Sandoval. The Deming star has 23 catches for 459 yards.
Centennial led the league in scoring this week by notching 28 points on the Wildcats.
