Alexa Glady made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Powers Catholic got a massive performance out of Makayla Stewart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Stewart has posted over her last seven games. Jordynn Devine also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Powers Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Holly was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They came up short against Owosso, falling 8-1. The Bronchos haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Molly Charboneau (SVSU) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan McMullen, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Holly's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Powers Catholic, their record is now 3-19.
Powers Catholic skirted past Holly 11-10 when the teams last played back in May of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
