Baseball Game Preview: Kingsford Flivvers vs. Menominee Maroons

Kingsford is a perfect 4-0 against Menominee since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Flivvers will host the Maroons at 3:30 p.m. Kingsford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Menominee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Kingsford is returning to their home field after beating Houghton on theirs, despite the fact Houghton has dominated at home this season. The Flivvers blew past the Gremlins 11-3 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Flivvers, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Garrett Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nolan Hendrickson was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Gavin Grondin was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Menominee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gladstone.

Kingsford has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Menominee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Kingsford took their victory against Menominee in their previous meeting on May 2nd by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Flivvers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Maroons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
