Marysville has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Olentangy Berlin Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marysville will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Last Friday, Marysville was fully in charge, breezing past Thomas Worthington 48-7 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Marysville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Corbin Wallace out in front who rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Matt Krutowskis, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Olentangy Berlin had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They strolled past Dublin Jerome with points to spare, taking the game 31-17. Given Olentangy Berlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Dublin Jerome is ranked 160th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Harrison Brewster went supernova for Olentangy Berlin, rushing for 203 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Ziegler, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Marysville's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points per game. As for Olentangy Berlin, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Marysville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Olentangy Berlin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 179.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Marysville lost to Olentangy Berlin at home by a decisive 24-10 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Marysville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
