The biggest upset of the week belonged to Watchung Hills Regional, who defeated 70th ranked Immaculata, 20-10. RYAN CUNNINGHAM ran for 242 yards during the win.
The Warriors' CUNNINGHAM rumbled for the longest rushing play in Mid-State 38 - Watchung this season in his game against the Spartans last week. CUNNINGHAM's team beat Immaculata as he sprinted for 73 yards on the play and finished with 242 in all.
CUNNINGHAM provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Marc Crisafi's team bested John Hack's team.
CUNNINGHAM was a force in the backfield as the Warriors topped the Spartans.
BEN GOMES was a key player and the best on defense this week as Watchung Hills Regional bested Immaculata. The 5-foot-11 junior grabbed 1 sack.
Nick Franzese was the best wideout in the league this week as Ridge beat Somerville. Franzese tallied 3 receptions for 67 yards. Ryan Bell helped Ridge's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 63 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Chris Chugunov of Montgomery is the league leader in passing yards this season with 720. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Franzese. The Ridge star has 19 catches for 367 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when North Hunterdon takes on the Red Devils. The Lions' offense has racked up 218 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Ridge has allowed only 42 on the year.
An important game coming up in Mid-State 38 - Watchung this week will be when North Hunterdon takes on Bill Tracy's team. John Mattes' team is currently in third, while the Red Devils are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when the Lions and Ridge face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, North Hunterdon comes in having scored 218 this season, while the Red Devils have scored 108. The Lions scored 33 points last week as they defeated Plainfield.
Ridge added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Pioneers, 53-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
