Hayfield is 8-2 against Edison since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hayfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Edison will be up against a hot Hayfield squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Hawks' way against Justice on Friday as they made off with an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Connor Watson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Jacob Bueno was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Suga, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Edison came up short against Justice on Thursday and fell 9-6. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
John Dobson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Derek Potts, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Edison's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-4-1. As for Hayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hayfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hayfield was able to grind out a solid win over Edison in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
