Taylor Van Meter was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 25 points and nine boards. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamri Rowland, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.
Rensselaer Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lowell unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Merrillville 72-40. The Red Devils were down 52-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Lowell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gatlin Hanrath dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Hanrath continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Josephine Laub was another key player, putting up five points.
Rensselaer Central pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.9 points. As for Lowell, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rensselaer Central has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 32 boards per game. However, it's not like Lowell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
