Even though Freedom Christian Academy scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, the Grace Christian Crusaders still came out on top. Grace Christian walked away with a 73-66 victory over Freedom Christian Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Grace Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Grace Christian was led to victory by Nate Jones and Ma'Kyi Butler. Jones scored 18 points, while Butler scored 20 points. The matchup was Butler's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jimmy Zimmerman, who scored 11 points.
Several Freedom Christian Academy players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karsten Swinney, who scored 22 points. Swinney hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Noa Von Pine, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Grace Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian will challenge Northside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northside Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Grace Christian likes a good challenge. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Word of God Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Word of God Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Freedom Christian Academy has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
