The Gateway Christian Eagles were the 34-31 winner over the River City Believers Academy Soldiers when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Gateway Christian fell 42-35 to River City Believers Academy on Tuesday. Gateway Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
River City Believers Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nate Garcia led the charge by scoring nine points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Josh Thompson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for River City Believers Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing First Baptist Academy the next time they take the court. River City Believers Academy will head out to face First Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Gateway Christian will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th.
