On Thursday, Village Christian got the win against Maranatha by a conclusive 17-5. With that win, the Crusaders brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Gaby Robel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Mosley and Lucy Murphy did most of the damage at the plate: Mosley went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Murphy got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and three RBI. Those four runs gave Murphy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Versaille Arnado, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Village Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian lost 24-12 to Saint Joseph on Friday.
Kayla Martin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Britton Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Village Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5-1.
