For the second straight game, Red Bud will face off against Carlyle. The Musketeers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians/Lady Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Red Bud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

Red Bud is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Carlyle just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians/Lady Indians. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Musketeers were not able to get on the board.

For Carlyle's part, not much got past Hayden Huels, who gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Red Bud off the board. Huels has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rhettick Steinkamp was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Guthrie, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Red Bud's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-4. As for Carlyle, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Red Bud has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Carlyle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts.
