Even though the Hoopa Valley Warriors scored an imposing 66 points on Friday, the South Fork Cubs still came out on top. South Fork took their match against the Warriors 76-66. Given South Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while the Warriors are ranked 991st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoopa Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lyle Mckinnon, who scored 17 points. Brian Richards was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
South Fork has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Hoopa Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
South Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hoopa Valley will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
