The Estill County Engineers will face off against the Lafayette Generals at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Estill County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Estill County turned things around against Owsley County on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Owls / Lady Owls a 15-0 shutout. The Engineers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Bella Rice was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Estill County let Callee Snowden and Kenzie Howard run wild. Snowden went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Howard went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Snowden has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Sydney Riddell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Estill County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lafayette didn't have quite enough to beat George Rogers Clark on Tuesday and fell 6-4. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lyla Hould made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Clay Denton, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Estill County's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Lafayette, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Estill County couldn't quite finish off Lafayette in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can the Engineers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
