Apple Valley has gone a perfect 9-0 against Granite Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Sun Devils will square off against the Cougars at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Apple Valley will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Hesperia on Friday. The Sun Devils blew past the Scorpions 25-1. The Sun Devils have beaten the Scorpions the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Scorpions has come to flipping the script.
Maci Case and Brynne Johnson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Case pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Johnson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Case has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Case went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Johnson went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Case has posted since back in April of 2024.

Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Apple Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Granite Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .543. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Apple Valley took their victory against Granite Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sun Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
