Even though the University Bulldogs scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Berthoud Spartans still came out on top. Berthoud took down University 74-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Berthoud.
It was another big night for Isaac Erickson, who scored 15 points along with three blocks and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Reece Stratmeyer, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
University's loss came despite strong showings from Coehn Nitzel and John Elbe. Nitzel scored 27 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Elbe scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nitzel has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Schminke, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Berthoud's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berthoud will face off against Resurrection Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for University, they will head out on the road to challenge Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 324 points over their last five matchups.
