If Chamblee was feeling good off their 16-0 takedown of Alcovy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Dunwoody Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 10-1. The Bulldogs were red-hot at the plate heading into the game, having scored no less than 10 runs in the two matchups prior, but the Wildcats' pitchers proved too tough.
Chamblee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clara Godwin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 while posting 1 RBI.
Even though they lost, Chamblee hit smart and finished the game with no strikeouts. They have not posted that few strikeouts since August 17th, when they also struck out zero times.
On Dunwoody's side, Josie Phelps looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Izzy Iconis was a standout: she fired off 2 HR and 5 RBIs while going 2-for-4. The two home runs were her most since at least August 6th last year, when she launched two vs. Chamblee. The team also got some help from Vivian Curry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances while posting 1 home run, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs.
Chamblee's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-3-1. As for Dunwoody, they have now won 13 of their last 16 games on the road. That gives them an 8-3 record this season.
Chamblee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-11 defeat against Decatur on the 3rd. As for Dunwoody, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 loss against Mount Paran Christian on the 2nd.
