The Jasper Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Homewood Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jasper is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Jasper fell victim to Pleasant Grove's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Spartans on the road and fell 55-0. While losing is never fun, Jasper can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 30th).
Meanwhile, Homewood unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Briarwood Christian.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from King Walker, who picked up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown. Walker was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards.
The losses dropped Jasper to 1-8 and Homewood to 5-4.
Jasper ended up a good deal behind Homewood in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, losing 38-20. Can Jasper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
