The Cherokee Indians lost against the Hackleburg Panthers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cherokee took a serious blow against Hackleburg, falling 41-6. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cherokee in their matchups with Hackleburg: they've now lost five in a row.
Landon Williams threw for 87 yards and a touchdown. Nikolas Curry was his top target, picking up 57 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Mykel goodloe picked up eight receiving yards.
Hackleburg can attribute much of their success to Blaise Vickery, who threw for 106 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Davin Dulaney was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Cherokee's defeat was their third straight at home , which bumped their record down to 5-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Hackleburg, Meek, and Shoals Christian. As for Hackleburg, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Cherokee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hackleburg will be playing at home against Marion County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marion County and Hackleburg are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
