The Wabash Apaches waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 57-44 win over Lewis Cass. Given Wabash's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Kings are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wabash's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izaak Wright led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five blocks. Wright is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Trevor Daughtry was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Lewis Cass' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Deeter, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Rudd, who scored ten points.
Wabash has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Lewis Cass, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wabash will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Frankton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Lewis Cass, they will be playing at home against the Zebras at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rochester has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 259 points over their last four games.
