The Hamburg Bulldogs were the 71-42 winner over the West Seneca West Warhawks when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hamburg opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-48 loss to West Seneca West. Hamburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Seneca West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Ecker led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Robertson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Hamburg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for West Seneca West, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamburg will take on Amherst Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Seneca West, they will head out on the road to face off against Sacred Heart Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sacred Heart Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
