The Coolidge Bears had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They walked away with a 49-38 victory over Pueblo. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Coolidge has scored all season.
Coolidge found their leader in underclassman Tory Gholston, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Slaughter, who scored eight points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Pueblo lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Hernandez. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Hernandez scored a full 52.6% of Pueblo's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Coolidge's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Pueblo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Coolidge will be playing at home against Payson at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pueblo and Vista Grande will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Vista Grande has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 24.
