Kettle Run is 2-8 against Brentsville District since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Kettle Run's win against Meridian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Aaliyah Alexander, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Meridian off the board. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Alexander.
On the hitting side, Kettle Run saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Drew, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brentsville District). They blew past Handley 18-0 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Annabelle Armstrong looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Brentsville District got a massive performance out of Victoria Nation, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Natalie Marvin, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3.
Brentsville District kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Brentsville District is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Kettle Run, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Kettle Run came up short against Brentsville District in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
