Basketball Game Preview: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Fayetteville Academy Eagles

Halifax Academy is 3-0 against Fayetteville Academy since November of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Halifax Academy Vikings will head out to challenge the Fayetteville Academy Eagles at 5:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Halifax Academy has three straight wins, Fayetteville Academy has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Halifax Academy didn't have too much trouble with Faith Christian as they won 44-27.

Halifax Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carolina Corum, who posted eight points along with six rebounds and five steals. Corum is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Odom, who earned eight points in addition to 14 boards and three steals.

Halifax Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville Academy was beaten by Riverside Christian Academy 72-19 on Monday.

Halifax Academy pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points per game. As for Fayetteville Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Halifax Academy took their win against Fayetteville Academy when the teams last played last Tuesday by a conclusive 44-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Halifax Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
