Freedom and Spoto are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Freedom Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Spoto Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Freedom is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Freedom fell victim to Wharton's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 51-0 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Freedom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 512th, while Wharton is ranked 108th).
Meanwhile, Spoto was the victim of a rough 51-27 loss at the hands of Lennard on Friday.
Despite the loss, Spoto had strong showings from Nathan Richardson, who threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and Z'orey Cotton, who picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Freedom's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.6 points per game. As for Spoto, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Freedom was dealt a bruising 51-0 loss at the hands of Spoto when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Freedom avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
