The Clopton Hawks won the last time they faced the Silex Owls, and things went their way on Thursday too. Clopton strolled past Silex with points to spare, taking the game 53-36. Given Clopton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Silex is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clopton was led to victory by Skylar Parker and Braya Smith. Parker scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Smith dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Campbell Lindsay, who scored three points along with four steals.
Clopton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Silex, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clopton will challenge North Callaway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Silex is on the road again on January 19th and play against Louisiana at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th.
