The Orangefield Bobcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 76-53 margin over Onalaska. Given Orangefield's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Onalaska is ranked 814th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Onalaska lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lucas Jackson. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five assists. Jackson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Byrd, who scored 13 points.
Orangefield's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Onalaska, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
Orangefield is on the road again on Saturday and play against Chapel Hill at 6:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Onalaska and Westwood will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westwood is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.3 points per game.
