The Seymour Owls will square off against the Bloomington South Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Seymour 3.5, Bloomington South 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Seymour took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Jennings County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Owls had just enough and edged out the Panthers 3-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted since April 10th.
Phoebe Underwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jennings County only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bloomington South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Bloomfield by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.
Bloomington South also got a great performance from Brilee McGlothlin as she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Larkyn Ivey was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bella Simmons, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Bloomington South is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Seymour, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seymour hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Bloomington South struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
