Softball Recap: Oakdale Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Oakdale never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bunkie on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Panthers. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Jolie West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Madison Sumbler was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Payton Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Oakdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oakdale has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Bunkie, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-12 record.

Oakdale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Marksville on the 8th. As for Bunkie, they will take on West Feliciana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
