Football Recap: Cerritos Piles Up the Points Against Wilson

Cerritos had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 36-point drubbing they dealt Wilson on Thursday. The Dons blew past the Wildcats 53-17. The matchup marked the Dons' most dominant win of the season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Cerritos, racking up 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Labrenten Wilson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Carbone, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one TD. Carbone showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 56 yards. Jason Flegeance III was another key signal caller, throwing for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cerritos' victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cerritos will take on West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dons will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wilson, they will challenge Pomona at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The contest will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
