The Widefield Gladiators can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 79-21 win over Mitchell on the road. Widefield's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Among those leading the charge was Paul Mitchell, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Michael Davenport was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Widefield's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9. As for Mitchell, their defeat was their 12th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Widefield will take on Coronado at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Coronado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday. As for Mitchell, they will head out on the road to square off against Elizabeth at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
