5A Region I District 3 recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lamar, who defeated 179th ranked Arlington, 24-14.
The Colts' Raymond Sheard rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region I District 3 this season in his game against the Vikings last week. Sheard ran for 54 yards on the play and finished with 166 on the day as his team lost to Lamar.
Eric Walker threw for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Michael Nealy made the biggest impact on defense this week as North Crowley lost to Houston. The 6-foot-0 defensive back nabbed 1 interception and recorded 1 fumble.
Isaiah Baker was the best receiver in the league this week as Martin topped Weatherford. Baker tallied 4 receptions for 121 yards. Krystian Levy helped Martin's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 48 yards.
On the heels of Walker and Nic Smith, the Warriors have had great success on offense. Walker leads the league in passing with 770 yards, while Smith has rushed for 494 yards this season. Scott Peach's team's Mason Shaw leads the league in receiving yards with 324 on 27 catches.
The Texans are currently in fourth, while Trent Fuller's team is in second.
Paschal scaled the state rankings by moving to 437 from 568 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Bowie 69-15.
