The Cardinal O'Hara Hawks had already won 15 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.9 points), and they went ahead and made it 16 on Wednesday. They blew past Starpoint 73-33 at home. Cardinal O'Hara has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Cardinal O'Hara to victory were Kyla Hayes and Annabelle Day. Hayes dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Day scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Day hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliviya Russell, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Cardinal O'Hara pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Starpoint, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-1.
Cardinal O'Hara won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Nichols at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Nichols will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Cardinal O'Hara is ranked second). Starpoint does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
