Baseball Recap: Illini West Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Illini West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on the Beardstown Tigers with a sharp 14-4 win on Tuesday. Considering the Chargers have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tre Neiderman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Khile Stonger was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Illini West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beardstown only managed eight hits.

Illini West's record now sits at 22-10. As for Beardstown, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Illini West will challenge Orion at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Beardstown, they will face off against Macomb at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
