Malakoff won the last time they faced Neches and things went their way on Friday too. The Malakoff Tigers strolled past the Neches Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 52-38. Given Malakoff's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Neches is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Malakoff has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.2 points over those games. As for Neches, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7.

Malakoff and Neches are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers challenge the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Malakoff's defense has only allowed 27 points per game this season, so Sabine's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Neches, they will face off against Avalon on Monday.
