Kenzie O'Brien was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Morris, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Allison Ramos was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Flour Bluff kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Carroll entered their tilt with Alice on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Coyotes 7-1.
Ali Ann Deleon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Talina Valdez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Another player making a difference was Benasia Ellison, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Flour Bluff pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Flour Bluff has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
