R-S Central extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 14-5. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the CHASE Trojans. Considering the Hilltoppers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hadley Freeman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, R-S Central got a massive performance out of Layna Jeffords, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Jeffords a new career-high. Calleigh Andrews also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
R-S Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
As for CHASE, they now have a losing record of 10-11. They haven't had much luck with R-S Central recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
On CHASE's side, Taylor Wall was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was A'Mya Phillips, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
R-S Central has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against West Caldwell on the 24th. As for CHASE, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 defeat against Draughn on the 23rd.
