Baseball Recap: Midway Gets the Win

Midway won the last time they faced Fairmont and things went their way on Friday too. The Raiders walked away with a 9-5 win over the Golden Tornadoes.

Wyatt Herring made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Wyatt Scott was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Wilson Mayo was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Midway's record now sits at 8-5. As for Fairmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Midway will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against West Bladen at 6:30 p.m. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fairmont, they will challenge St. Pauls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
